Sun and Moon are Conjunct at 9’ 03° Gemini on this New Moon on May 30th 2022 at 3:29 am AKST. Gemini season marks the switch of Spring into Summer. Gemini embodies polarity in a lot of ways, being able to be two things at once while also being neither. Picture dichotomies and Venn Diagrams.
It occurred to me that the Pigeon is a very strong representation of Mercury and the Archetype of the Pyschopomp. They were used as messenger birds for thousands of years, have a strong sense of direction and they go wherever they damn please, not unlike Mercury. In some Folklore Pigeons were also seen as omens of death, driving home symbolism of the Pyschopomp. Pigeons are also fertility symbols and have been known to relate to the Goddess Lakshmi opening up another layer of dimension in this birds symbolism of Polarity.
Gemini is ruled by Mercury the archetype of the pyschopomp, he who travels between the gods, and the dead, delivering news of that which happened in another world, some far away land. Gemini is about being curious, learning, becoming and unbecoming. And perhaps shapeshifting when it suits you, on your own terms.
The Moon and Sun sextile Jupiter 3°, Mars 4°and Chiron at 15° in Aries. Our emotions and desire for the self are aligned with our passion, ambition, and drive. We are going big, this marks an exploratory period where we may be hesitant to pump the breaks.
We are also being shown what is hurting us and why, Chiron aspects can feel like pouring salt on a wound or picking at a healing cut. You know its painful, but sometimes you just want to see what’s under the surface again, and your mind tells you that maybe if you pick it once more it will heal faster.
Sometimes the best thing you can do is leave the cut alone some things really do just take time. Aries can make us feel like we need to rush. Aries can also be about finding new solutions, or breaking ground into new territory.
Jupiter and Mars in Aries square Lilith in Cancer at 3° we are being asked to choose between our “shells” and comfort zone and stepping out into the world. There may be feelings around wanting to hide due to our pasts or general shame around who we are vs. starting fresh and choosing a newer, fresher, bigger path or choice.
Our shame may feel blown out of proportion. We may be dealing with shame around anger, sex or general things bubbling up in the world around these issues. Feeling like we are being told to repress ourselves when all we want is to be “free”.
Venus sits at 2° Taurus and makes a sextile to Lilith in Cancer allow connection, art, beauty, or even just love to help you smooth over the negative feelings that Lilith/ Mars aspects can generate.
Mercury continues his Retrograde trek back through Taurus sitting at 26° sextiling Neptune in Pisces at 25°, Squaring Saturn at 25° Aquarius and trining Pluto at 28° Capricorn. Our alignment with personal power through communication and connection is achievable, even if Saturn is asking us to double-check where our boundaries stand and how far we are willing to bend for others.
Neptune also Sextiles Pluto and the North Node. Dream big, get perhaps just a tad delusional for this New Moon. Pluto can help us have our phoenix moments where we can take our Personal transformations and allow them to catapult us into what is next. The transformation may be uncomfortable or overwhelmingly confronting, but what is painful is often worth it.
