Verdure and Venus

Recently I was in an Astrology group and the common question “How did you get into astrology?” arose. The group was loud with answers like “Sun Sign Newspaper Horoscopes.” and what not. My answer is somewhere between the intersection of Tumblr and Kanye West. I also didn’t share it because it sounded stupid in my head and I didn’t feel like explaining to a group of strangers. (Ironic huh….)

Kanye West… you ask? In my teenage years I never really related to what Sun Sign columns labeled Virgo as. I’m well groomed, I guess. But my clothes live in a pile for the most part. I’m not overly concerned with cleanliness, my handwriting is sloppy and unique. I leave a trail of breadcrumbs in the community break room most days.

My habits and adventurous spirit made me feel much more aligned with my Sagittarius Ascendent and it stood out much more prominently to me for most of my teenage years. That being said every celebrity I admired in my youth always came up with Gemini in their big 3.

Florence Welch. Kanye West. Angelina Jolie. et. etc. It would go on like this for month’s every time I was interested in someone they would have a Gemini placement heavily prominent in their chart. Which only peaked my curiosity and left me determined to find out why. Now I know that it’s due to my Descendant ( the sign opposite my ascendent) being Gemini as usually we are attracted to people who possess traits or placements of our descendent.

Anyways, viva la astrology. And thank you Kanye West.
